 Recording of Applicant Fingerprints in Support of Emigration, Work, Study and Other Overseas Visitor & Travel Visas etc The recording of applicant fingerprints is often a pre-requisite in visitor visa applications in the above and other circumstances. In many areas of the United Kingdom this is a service provided at cost by ‘in house’ Police Fingerprint Bureaux. In Scotland, Fingerprint bureaux are encompassed within the Non Departmental Public Body (NDPB) known as the Scottish Police Services Authority (SPSA). The services provided in support of private visa applications at SPSA’s Edinburgh Fingerprint Unit, Police Headquarters, Edinburgh has been discontinued with effect from 8 December 2011. I am pleased to advise that, as an existing accredited fingerprint expert working within the Scottish criminal justice community, I now offer a replacement fingerprint service in South East Scotland for applicants pursuing the issue of travel visa and other foreign visitor authorisations. Acceptable, fingerprint bureau quality fingerprints taken in these circumstances will either be recorded on forms supplied as part of the consular visa application process or on alternative fingerprint forms in a format and style routinely accepted by fingerprint bureaux world-wide. Fingerprints will only be captured when accompanied by appropriate proof of identification and residence etc and each resultant fingerprint form will be certified accordingly. A fee, comparable with those applied by Police Forces who routinely provide this service for applicants elsewhere in the United Kingdom is payable in exchange for the completed fingerprint form. I hope this information provides sufficient detail and background of the availability of this service to visa applicants in South East Scotland and, where fingerprints form part of any visa application process, I look forward to assisting applicants seeking travel to your country as appropriate. FINGERPRINT INFORMATION Two forms of identification are required when attending to have your fingerprints taken. One must be a passport and the other one must have your present address on it. I.e. A utility bill or bank Statement. You must contact your countries consulate to find out if your fingerprints are required to be taken on a specific fingerprint form that they provide for you.
