Edinburgh : Property : House Sitting : My wife and I are
 My wife and I are looking to house sit in Edinburgh from early March and will be able to do so for a flexible period. I have just finished my PhD at the University of Glasgow and am looking for a quiet place to finish some articles, complete new research funding applications and basically start steering my life toward professional academic work. We will be in the US until the 1 March. We've been here for five months, visiting family, putting finishing touches on the PhD thesis and doing a little volunteering. Our intention is to settle permanently in Scotland again, but right now things are somewhat indeterminate until all the post-PhD measures are complete. Therefore housesitting would be an ideal solution that would allow me to work without all the initial stress of finding a flat, particularly if a new job ends up taking me elsewhere. We both have plenty of experience of looking after animals. Both our families have always had dogs and cats, so the daily feeding, walking and cleanup rituals are no problem at all. In fact, my PhD research was based on Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms (WWOOF), a network of host farms and volunteers, which we used to work on several farms in Italy in 2010. We lived on the host farms and helped with animal feeding and cleaning. After mucking out horse stables and goat pens, emptying litter boxes represents no problem at all! This will be our first housesitting job but we would be happy to provide references from former landlords and WWOOF hosts. As I said, our dates can be really flexible and we're open to all possibilities. Our only stipulation is that we would need to be somewhere reasonably accessible by public transport as we don't have a car. I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks
